• Broadleaf evergreen to semi-evergreen shrub, 3-5 ft (0.9-1.5 m) tall and 4-6 ft (1.2-1.8 m) wide, densely branched.  Leaves simple, opposite, glossy, variegated, center dark green and margin golden when young, then creamy yellow; fall color ranges from yellow, orange to reddish.  Flowers white to pale pink, somewhat fragrant, blooms in summer and into fall.
• Sun (best) to part shade, acid peaty soil.
• Hardy to USDA Zone (5) 6    ‘Sunrise’ was discovered as a branch sport in a field of cultivated Abelia × Grandiflora at Taylor's Nursery, Raleigh, North Carolina.  It reportedly maintains its variegation throughout the year, whereas the leaves of the variegated selection ‘Francis Mason’ turn completely green in shade and entirely yellow in sun.  In comparison to another variegated selection, ‘Conti’, ‘Sunrise’ grows higher and under heavy shade and maintains its yellow variegation,
