This beautiful little evergreen azalea is yet another smaller, more compact selection. Fashion sports large amounts of salmon to orange / red colored blooms held against rich green foliage. Blooms are tight, and consist of slightly smaller petals than some azalea varieties you might be familiar with. It is a Glen Dale Series hybrid and is generally known to be one of the more cold-hardy of that group of hybrids. Where most Southern Indica azalea varieties we grow will only thrive thru zone 7 ( at best ), Fashion has increased cold hardiness which included most zone 6 locations. If located in zone 6, I would still recommend trying to find a somewhat sheltered planting location for Fashion Azalea. Always better to be safe than sorry with marginal cold hardiness species.
Like all Azaleas, Fashion prefers semi-shade, and will even do well in planting locations with mostly shade. A shallow, nonaggressive root system makes them a great foundation planting choice, and can even be planted closely together for use as a colorful hedge. This fairly shallow root system, however, also requires that Azaleas be given regular waterings - be sure that your Azaleas receive water equivalent to about 1" of rainfall each & every week throughout the growing season.
